Coronation Street character returns to save loved one in gripping ITVX story

The day Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) loved ones were supposed to watch the tape his ashes will be launched into spacehis husband Billy didn’t want to attend and wasn’t impressed that people were talking about it in a celebratory mood.

At The Rovers, Paul’s mum Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) and his twin sister Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) were joined by all of Paul’s friends and gathered to watch Paul’s remains take their final journey.

But when Billy did turn up, the event was abruptly abandoned as he became increasingly drunk before switching off his laptop and branding the whole thing a farce.

While trying to cope with Paul’s death, Billy also felt guilty for attacking his ex Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) immediately after Paul’s funeral.

After announcing that he had let a thief into his home who had stolen half of Paul’s ashes, Billy admitted that he had kissed Todd in front of a packed pub.

Billy ran out and Todd tried to explain that he had turned Billy down, that Billy was overcome with grief and that it didn’t mean anything.

Gemma kicked Todd out and Bernie was comforted by Dev Alahan (Jimmy Harkishin) as she cried over the loss of Paul.

Convinced that she and Dev were back together, Bernie visited Todd, who revealed how sad and self-destructive Billy had been since the funeral.

Realizing that Billy was missing, Todd went to look for him, and soon we saw Billy sits in the cold behind the Underworld factorywhere he opened the bottle and listened to Paul’s voice recordings until his phone battery died.

Then, as Billy flinched, Paul appeared in front of him and ordered him to get up before he froze to death.

Viewers certainly weren’t expecting to see Paul again after his devastating death in September, but can his spirit convince Billy to save himself?
