Known as one of the ATP Tour’s most enigmatic players, German tennis player Dustin Brown has announced that he will retire from the tournament at the conclusion of the 2024 Moselle Open.

In 2021, the 39-year-old switched his attention to doubles and achieved relative success in this discipline. Brown teamed up with Argentine player Sebastian Baez at Wimbledon this year, where the duo lost in the round of 16 to top-seeded duo Marcel Granollers and Horacio Ceballos.

Brown is known for his perfect game against Nadal

Although the Celle native was often in the news for his bold style of play and impressive volleys, Brown announced his arrival on the tennis scene after defeating Rafael Nadal at the Halle Open in 2014. The former world number 64 proved that his victory was significant. not by luck a year later, beating Nadal on the greatest stage of the 2015 Wimbledon Championships. Brown ousted the Spaniard in the second round, sending shockwaves through the tennis community with his shocking upset.

The German star is one of two players to remain undefeated against the legendary Spaniard after playing him multiple times on tour. He is 2-0 against Nadal in career meetings, joining retired Spanish star Alex Corretja as the only two players to share that feat.

Brown teamed up with American Evan King in doubles at the Moselle Open. Despite their best efforts, the duo lost to French pair Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Albano Olivetti in the round of 16, ending Brown’s 22-year career.
