Predictions for the match Bayern – Benfica

It was an interesting start to the season for Bayern Munich. There are three months left until the 2024/25 season, but this team remains difficult to prepare.

On the one hand, Bayern are now firmly established as the clear favorites to win back the Bundesliga title they lost to Bayer Leverkusen last season.

Vincent Kompany’s side are already seven points ahead of Leverkusen after good results to date. Bayern have lost just four points so far, with two of them coming in a 1-1 draw with the champions.

Their eight top-flight matches to date have seen 32 goals scored – an average of over 3.5 per game. This is not bad even for a team with Bayern’s inherent advantages over their domestic rivals.

However, a quick glance at the Bundesliga table doesn’t tell the whole story, not least because Bayern’s results in the Champions League have been far less impressive.

Things started brightly with a crushing 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb, but the mood soured after successive defeats to Aston Villa (0-1) and Barcelona (1-4).

The two defeats mean Bayern have little margin for error in their remaining five matches, starting with Wednesday’s meeting with Benfica.

Failures against Villa and Barcelona also show that while Bayern are capable of beating weaker domestic opposition, they still have work to do when facing top continental opposition.

Perhaps the simplest conclusion to draw at this stage is that Bayern are a work in progress. This is understandable given that Kompany has only been in his role for a few months and that he takes over a team that last finished a lowly third in the Bundesliga.

One thing is for sure: despite their impressive performances in the Bundesliga, Bayern will have to improve their performance in the Champions League if they want to lift the trophy. There is still plenty of time for that to happen, but it will be vital that they get back on track when Benfica travel to Germany this week.

The Portuguese team is capable of giving Bayern a game here, so this could be one of the most interesting matches of the fourth round.

Predictions for the match Bayern – Benfica

Bayern Munich need another Champions League win when Benfica travel to Germany.

Bayern Munich will win and score over 3.5 goals

Goals have been the guarantee of every game Bayern have played this season.

On the other hand, the Harry Kane-led attack, which also features Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry (with Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane waiting in the wings), is now on par with the best.

Bayern showed what they are capable of when things clicked in the first third of the game against a notoriously weak Dinamo Zagreb side in the first round.

But there are legitimate questions over defense and midfield, so Benfica should be able to capitalize on their fair share of opportunities on Wednesday.

With home advantage behind them, Bayern must get the job done. Meanwhile, at least four goals look very likely.

Bayern Munich to score in both halves

In the third round, Benfica suffered an unexpected home defeat to Feyenoord with a score of 3:1, but before that they beat Red Star Belgrade and Atlético Madrid.

That means Wednesday’s meeting with Bayern Munich will be something of a free kick for Bruno Lage’s side, who will consider the point a fine result.

Keep the back door closed to Kane and company. However, it will not be easy by any means.

Bayern’s five games at the Allianz Arena this season have produced 19 goals for the hosts, who have scored either side of half-time in three of their last four Bundesliga matches on any pitch.

Despite all their qualities, Benfica will find it difficult to contain Kompany’s attack.

Let Bayern Munich score in both halves at 7/10 with VBET

Jamal Musiala will score any time

Musiala has been in the news frequently in recent weeks.

With his current contract set to expire in 2026, Bayern Munich are desperate to convince the attacking midfielder to commit to new terms.

If he doesn’t do it before next summer, Bayern will have to cash in on the German player or risk losing him for free.

Every team in the world would welcome Musiala to their team. However, for now the player will be completely focused on Benfica.

With four goals in his last three matches, Musiala is a good choice in this market.

Tip: Jamal Musiala will score at any time at 13/9 with VBET
