Two walkers rescued after being trapped by rising burns in the Highlands

Two walkers have been rescued after becoming trapped by rising burns in the Scottish Highlands.

Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team were recently called to the Glenn-a-Chaole area after receiving reports of a pair of trapped walkers.

The couple were walking in the area when they came across a burn that they were unable to cross safely due to the amount of water.

Volunteer rescuers were able to quickly reach the pedestrians and install a tension line to create a safe crossing point for them.

The team was then able to escort the two walkers safely down the hill.

In a post on social media, Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team said: “We were recently called to assist a pair of walkers after they became trapped by rising burns.

“The duo were walking in the Glenn a Chaole area when they came across a burn in a stream which they could not safely cross due to the amount of water.

“Volunteers were able to quickly reach the site using a 6×6 and then a ‘tight diagonal line’ was set up at a suitable crossing point to help them cross the border.

“The team members then escorted them safely off the hill.”
