Hodgson ‘going to make the most of every opportunity’ as Cincinnati’s new voice in the ECHL

While in college, he joined the Columbia hockey program and played for the country in the Amerigol LATAM Cup, an annual tournament held at the Florida Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs, Florida, which features teams representing Latin American, Caribbean and other developing hockey countries and territories. .

Hodgson helped Columbia advance to the men’s Division I tournament championship in 2021 with a 3-2-0 record in five games and a 4.00 goals-against average. He is 10-7-0 in three Latin American Cup tournaments.

“The sport in Colombia is growing day by day, and to be just a small part of that growth as a player already means a lot to me,” he said. “But when people turn on their TVs and hear the voice of their native country, it gives me incredible emotions. I’m so proud to be Colombian.”

Hodgson said he brought his goalie equipment with him to Cincinnati and hopes to be able to play in whatever free time he has. He said he wasn’t sure if Cyclones coach Jason Payne () knew about his playing history.

“I told one of the equipment guys that if there was a need to score a third goal in training, I wasn’t that far from the sport,” he said. “I might catch fire a couple of times, but I think I can handle myself.”

Would Hodgson be interested in becoming the reserve goalkeeper (EBUG)?

“Does the broadcaster have to leave the booth mid-game to get on the ice?” – he said. “What a story that would be.”
