Granville man pleads guilty to sexual exploitation of a child

GRAND RAPIDS, MI. A Grandville man has pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child.

Thomas Aaron HungerfordThe 54-year-old was previously accused of sharing hundreds of sexually explicit images of children with an undercover investigator. He was federally charged in June.

Hungerford was also suspected of breaking into the Grandville High School locker room and stealing girls’ underwear. However, the district manager said there was no evidence he broke in.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan (DOJ) says Hungerford videotaped a girl under 18 without her knowledge in August 2023 while she engaged in sexual activity.

“Protecting children and adolescents from sexual exploitation is a critical part of our mission,” said U.S. Attorney Mark Totten. “I am grateful to the FBI for its quick and thorough work on this case, and for the work the Bureau does every day to protect children.”

Hungerford will spend 15 to 30 years behind bars, according to the Justice Department.
