A girl was hit by an allegedly drunk driver while walking to her bus stop in Spotsylvania, Virginia, on Wednesday morning, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said deputies responded on the morning of Nov. 6 to a report of a girl being hit by a car. When officials arrived, investigators said preliminary results showed the driver, later identified as 53-year-old Jane Jenkins, crossed the center of the road heading south of Plantation Forest Drive and struck the girl as she walked on the gravel road. the opposite side of the roadway.

The girl was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and later released with minor injuries, officials said.

Jenkins was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and is being held on $2,500 bail at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
