On Your Side Helped Surprise Woman Get Back $1,446 Deposit

On Your Side Helped Surprise Woman Get Back ,446 Deposit

SURPRISE, AZ (AZFamily) — Surprise Woman moved out of her apartment complex and expected her deposit to be returned in full, but four months later she is still waiting.

So she turned to On Your Side for help.

Lucinda Flores moved in with relatives almost four months ago and is still unpacking some of her belongings.

Before moving, Flores lived in a place called Pointe on South Mountain.

She says she liked the complex, but living on the second floor became too difficult for her health.

“I had surgery on my right lung. And my pulmonologist said, ‘You know, the second story is probably not the best story for you,'” Flores told On Your Side.

Flores gave proper notice to move out and then deep cleaned her apartment.

She even filmed the entire apartment to document how clean she left it.

Lucinda was hoping to get her $1,446 deposit back.

In fact, the apartment complex gave her two refund requests: one for about $200 and another for $1,200.

But after waiting nearly four months and repeatedly calling The Pointe in South Mountain, she never received her money.

So she contacted On Your Side.

“I’m sure you’re wondering, ‘Where’s my money?’ Gary Harper of On Your Side asked Flores.

“Exactly. I was like, ‘Do you know how long I have to wait?'” She responded.

On Your Side got involved and contacted The Pointe at South Mountain.

It turned out that around the time Florez moved, the property management company at the complex had changed and her refund had not been received.

But after participating on On Your Side, Florez received two checks totaling just over $1,446—her full deposit.

Florez says this only happened because of On Your Side.

“I think you’re amazing. I think you’re doing a really good job (working). And as far as results go, I mean I owe it all to you because I didn’t really get anywhere,” she said.
