Laurel is working on repairs to Well No. 6.

LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – The City of Laurel is still dealing with some water issues for its residents.

On Oct. 25, the city had to issue an emergency order for Well No. 6, which is located near Susie B. Ruffin Avenue.

Mayor Johnny Magee said a piece broke off into the well.

Veolia hired a Georgia company to fish out the part and repair it.

The production of this work cost more than $45,000.

The city is working on renovations. Meanwhile, Magee said the city’s water pressure is stable.

“This well complements what we already have, and it produces about 800,000 gallons per day if it runs 24 hours a day,” Magee said. “So we need to get that well back online so that all the water in the city is good.”

The well should be repaired within a week.
