Woman wins $1 million lottery prize after finding forgotten ticket in purse

CHICAGO (Gray News) – An Illinois woman took everything on her list at the grocery store, including a lottery jackpot bonus.

According to Illinois LotteryThe woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket Oct. 20 while shopping at the Jewel-Osco grocery store in the Elmhurst area.

The lucky winner matched all five numbers in the evening’s drawing and received a $1 million prize.

Winning numbers: 2-3-24-25-28.

And the winner said she forgot about the ticket until she checked the numbers a few days later.

“I actually put the ticket in my purse and completely forgot about it,” she said. “A couple of days after the drawing, I saw the ticket in my purse and checked to see if he had won.”

A lottery player said she was shocked to see how much her ticket was worth after scanning it into the lottery app.

“I immediately saw $1 million on the screen and was completely shocked,” she said. “I watched it again and immediately started crying. I thought, “This is incredible.”
