Williams defeats Croasdell for Delta County Council seat | News, Sports, Vacancies

ESCANABA — Delta County residents have spoken and elected Christina Williams to serve on the Delta County Board of Commissioners, representing District 3, for the upcoming term.

Williams (R) bested Croasdell (no party affiliation), receiving 3,025 votes (72.11%) to Croasdell’s 1,139 (27.15%). Another 31 votes (0.74%) were cast for write-in candidates, but not a single write-in candidate applied to run in the election.

Croasdell has held the District 3 seat since a May 7 special election that removed Commissioner Bob Barron from the position. (She will continue to serve on the board until the board is reorganized early next year, when Williams takes over.

District 3 includes the City of Escanaba’s District 2, which consists of part of southern Escanaba; Escanaba Township District 2, which includes all land in the township west of the Escanaba River; Bark River Township; and Ford River Township. Williams won all precincts, receiving 993 votes (67.51%) to Croasdell’s 466 (31.68%) in Escanaba Precinct 2, 532 votes (74.41%) to 180 votes (25.17%) in the precinct 2 Escanaba towns, 682 votes (80.52%). to 160 (18.89%) in Bark River and 818 (70.40%) to 333 (28.55%) in Ford River.
