Ninth Circuit judges’ results show incumbent hard-pressed to hold

Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge Angela M. Roff remains on track to potentially retain her position as Garfield County election results continue to come in.

As of 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Roff, Gov. Jared Polis’ 2022 nominee, currently has 11,959 of the 23,585 (50.7%) ballots cast in favor of her retention.

Roff was recently evaluated by the Colorado Office of Judicial Performance Evaluation, which found that she met high standards of integrity and impartiality, but that she lacked legal knowledge and administrative skills. The evaluation commission, by a vote of 4 to 3, determined that she did not fully meet state standards for judges. She was the only judge in Colorado not meeting state standards.

Editor’s note: Final results were not available by the Post Independent’s press deadline. Results will be updated online on Wednesday.

Roff’s legal experience includes serving as a judge advocate in the United States Air Force and as an attorney in private practice. Locally, she worked as a contract prosecutor and hearing specialist in Glenwood Springs. The final decision on its retention will be made after the vote count is completed.

Results are unofficial and subject to change. The Post Independent will continue to update poll results.
