Sai Pallavi names Amaran Sivakarthikeyan’s first blockbuster in Telugu; fans remind her of Doctor Don

Sivakarthikean and Rajkumar Periasamy Sai PallaviStarring Amaran, it hit theaters on October 31. The film, a biopic of the late Major Mukund and his wife, the story of Indu Rebecca Varghese, received good reviews. Sai called Amaran Sivakarthikeyan’s first blockbuster in Telugu, but fans reminded her otherwise. At an event held in Hyderabad to celebrate the success of Amaran in Telugu, Sai first thanked the Telugu audience for accepting the film as much as the Tamil people. “I feel like you gave me a warm hug. Telugu audiences have always loved good films, irrespective of the language. I have acted in many films here, but I was accepted as Hindu Rebecca Varghese,” she said.

She added: “I thought Sivakarthikeyan was a household word in Tamil Nadu, but now it has become the same here too. Someone told me that I bought my big blockbuster in Tamil with him. Likewise, I am glad that his first blockbuster in Telugu was with me. I hope his next films also receive the same appreciation.” Sai also thanked director Rajkumar for writing her character so well.

Fans were confused by Sai’s statement considering that Sivakarthikeyan’s 2021 film Doctor and 2022 film Don were also hits in Telugu. One fan commented to X (formerly Twitter): “Don, Dr. Telugu lo hit hey ga (Don, Doctor were a hit in Telugu, right).” Another wrote: “The Doctor and Don are already in ani cheppandra evaraina (someone tell her the Doctor and Don are already in here).” Someone commented: “Hey @Sai_Pallavi92, Shivanna already has Doctor and Don.”

Another fan wrote, “Karthikeyan has already made three films before Amaran. Check the facts,” opined that the 2016 film Remo was a hit in Telugu too. Some debated the technical characteristics of a “blockbuster” and a “hit”: “Some may say that SK’s Don and Doctor are hits. Yes, both films were hits. But Amaran is a blockbuster.” Some have also pointed out that the 2023 film Maaviran has also performed well in AP, Telangana.
