Construction firms ‘strongly advised’ to take safety time-out after 10 deaths in last four months

Construction companies are “strongly advised” to stop work and review safety procedures on their sites over the next two weeks. The security time-out usually lasts 24 hours. It also includes assessing risk management and implementing risk mitigation measures. This comes after 10 deaths were reported in the sector between July and October. Compared to five in the first half of the year. Describing the situation as alarming, the Ministry of Manpower said eight out of ten were preventable.
