Jimmy Kimmel recalls ‘terrible’ election night in monologue

Jimmy Kimmel first show after the former president’s re-election Donald Trump began with Kimmel packing up his things in his office. As he explained to a friend Guillermohe was probably on Trump’s enemies list and was planning to leave the country. Guillermo slapped him and told him to buck up because the country needed his voice more than ever.

When Kimmel realized he should stay, Guillermo put on a sombrero and Kimmel asked him, “What’s with the suitcase?” Guillermo replied: “I’m going back to Mexico. Fuck this. You’re on your own, buddy!

It didn’t take long before Guillermo returned. After a pre-taped introduction, Kimmel returned to his monologue, which he kept light, calling election night “the worst Taco Tuesday of my life” and recounting how he and his wife gave their children the freedom to swear without repercussions. how they reacted to Trump’s victory.

He then described how friends, family and colleagues had written to him about their feelings, which he noted, “many of them were related to diarrhea. America saw record levels of diarrhea yesterday.”

But even as he tried to remain positive, Kimmel admitted it was a “terrible night” and listed the reasons, getting emotional at some points:

Let’s be honest – last night was terrible. It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hardworking people who keep this country going, for healthcare, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justicefor freedom of speech. It was a terrible night for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on Social Security, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for truth, democracy and decency. And it was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him, and guess what? It was a terrible night for everyone who voted for him, you just don’t realize it yet.

And most importantly, it was a real disaster for the night (Melania Trump).

But it was a really good night for (Vladimir Putin), and for polio, and for cute billionaires like Elon Musk and the Silicon Valley bros and all the squirming brain worms who sold what was left of their souls to worship Donald Trump.

Kimmel also struggled to find something positive and came up with the following:

We’ve been through this once before, and yes, this time it will probably be worse. Maybe much worse. But I also think that maybe we will look back and realize that ultimately this is what we needed to wake us up. Maybe the people who care about him so much should know how little he cares about them.
