An investigation has been launched after police shelled apartments near Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – Community members were urged to avoid the area near an Independence apartment complex after law enforcement officers were involved in a shooting.

Around 15:00 on Thursday, November 7, Independence Police Department asked the community to avoid the area of Larkspur and M 291 Frontage Rd. as the shooting investigation continues.

Department leaders noted that law enforcement officers were involved in the shooting. A police investigation team was dispatched to respond.

When KCTV5 News arrived on scene, they observed police turning vehicles around at the Oval Spring Apartments. Residents are forced to enter the complex.
