The bride’s sister refused to change her wedding dress after spilling wine on it

The bride’s sister refused to change her wedding dress after spilling wine on it

When the bride asked her sister to replace her wedding dress, which was covered in red wine, she refused.

In a message to Reddit“I am A——?” On the forum, a woman told how she accidentally spilled a glass of red wine on her sister’s wedding dress during the latter’s reception. The bride asked her to hold the drink when suddenly her cousin suddenly hugged her from behind, causing the wine to spill from her hand onto her dress.

“She was very upset and I felt terrible,” recalled a woman who was her sister’s maid of honor.

She continued: “After the wedding, she called and asked me to cover the cost of a new dress or at least pay for the cleaning. I understand why she’s upset but it was an accident and I can’t afford to replace it – her dress cost thousands of dollars and I’m saving for a house, I offered to pay for the cleaning but she says it’s not enough.”

For the bride, her wedding was a “huge event.” She had been planning this for over a year, so the dress was important to her. Although her sister understands why she is upset and wants to have the dress repaired, she argues that the requirement to buy a new one is excessive.

“Some family members think I should pay because I have the wine in my hands, while others think she is overreacting,” the sister wrote. “I feel bad, but I’m not sure I should be responsible for the full amount.”

She asked on the forum: “Aita for not agreeing to buy her a new dress?”

Reddit users were unanimous in their responses, noting that she didn’t need to buy a whole new dress and that the cleaning fee should be enough. They also believed that the cousin, who was partially responsible for the wine spill, should also be held accountable.

“Why is cleaning not enough? There is no point in buying a new dress. NTA,” one user commented, while another added: “Definitely pay for the cleaning. I don’t understand the logic of buying a new dress that she will never use because the wedding is over.”

“Why doesn’t my cousin pay?” asked the Redditor. “It’s all her fault.”
