CLEARWATER, FL.A Clearwater A woman has been reunited with her beloved elderly dog ​​after it fell into a canal and was rescued by a police officer.

Last month, a Clearwater Police Department sergeant came across a dog in Island Estates that had fallen into a canal and was struggling to stay afloat.

Police say a blind and deaf dog may have been swept into the Gulf of Mexico.

A police officer found the dog in the canal and said it might be washed out into the Gulf of Mexico.

Body camera video shows the officer rushing to the edge of the canal with a pole that has a rope at the end.

An officer can be heard saying, “I can’t even hear that anymore,” as another officer helps her find the dog.

The officer managed to drag the dog to safety, where a grateful owner was waiting.

The officer said: “She almost drowned there… I don’t know how long she would have lasted there.”

After the rescue, the dog can be heard panting as the dog’s owner says, “Oh my God, Heidi,” and pets the wet animal.

The owner praises the officer and thanks her for her good eye and good work.
