Manchester United ended their winless run in Europe and Osimhen scored two goals as Galatasaray beat Tottenham

MANCHESTER – Manchester United claimed their first European win in more than a year by beating PAOK 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday.

Two second-half goals from Amad Diallo sealed victory at Old Trafford and boosted United’s hopes of progressing in the tournament, while Tottenham’s 100% start ended with a 3-2 defeat at Galatasaray.

United’s last win in Europe was against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on October 24 last year.

“We discussed it in the dressing room and it was time to change it, which is what we did,” United interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy said.

In the 50th minute, Diallo headed a shot over PAOK goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski, and in the 77th minute he sent a deflected shot from outside the box that nestled in the bottom corner.

It’s two wins in three games for United under van Nistelrooy, who has one more game – against Leicester on Sunday – before handing the ball over to Ruben Amorim.

Erik ten Hag was fired last week after a poor start to the campaign, he left the team in 14th place in the Premier League and without a win in Europe’s minor competition, the Europa League.

Amorim was quickly replaced in his place, but Van Nistelrooy had to fill the gap while the Portuguese served his sentence at Sporting Lisbon.

He achieved victories in the English League Cup and Europa League either side of a league draw with Chelsea.

Substitute Dominic Solanke pulled a goal back for Tottenham with a backheel in the 69th.
