McLean County woman found not guilty by reason of insanity of battery of a correctional officer

BLOOMINGTON — A Normal woman has been found not guilty by reason of insanity for beating a corrections officer while in jail.

Britley L. Hilger, 33, was arraigned Friday morning before Judge Amy McFarland, who found the defendant not guilty at trial.

Hilger was initially charged with aggravated battery on a peace officer, a Class 2 felony, and two Class A misdemeanors for violating a no-contact order.

Assistant State’s Attorney Alexandra Williams represented the state, and Hilger was represented by John Bussan under contract with the McLean County Public Defender’s Office. Bussan could not be reached for comment.
