LOTTO

Players buy tickets by choosing six different numbers from 1 to 52.

There is automatic generation of random numbers for those who do not want to choose, which is called Quick selection.

At the time of introduction, the Lotto jackpot draw required numbers from 1 to 49. On July 30, 2017, Ithuba Holdings increased this number from 49 to 52.

In a drawing without replacement, six numbered balls are drawn from a set of 52 balls numbered 1 to 52. Next Bonus ball is also played, which only affects players who match five numbers.

Prizes are awarded to players who match at least three of the six numbers drawn, with prizes increasing for matching more numbers drawn.

All players who match all six numbers drawn win an equal share of the jackpot.

The chance of this happening is 1 in 20,358,520.

If four, five or six balls are matched, the corresponding prize is divided equally among everyone who matched that number of balls.

If no player matches all six numbers, the jackpot is carried over and added to the amount of the next lottery draw.

The fee for participation in the lottery draw is set at R5.00 for the board.

LOTTO PLUS 1

Lotto Plus 1 is the same as Lotto, but it gives the player a second chance to win.

When purchasing a lottery ticket, players can pay extra R2.50 per board to participate in the Lotto Plus 1 draw.

The odds are the same, but the prizes are usually slightly lower.

Lotto Plus 1 was introduced on November 26, 2003.
