China, India and Russia are beginning to play a more active role in the world – Thai political scientist – World

BANGKOK, October 26. /TASS/. China, India, Russia and a number of other countries are beginning to play a more active role in solving global problems, and the one-sided political system dominated by the West is becoming weaker, a Thai political scientist told TASS.

Commenting on the results of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Jiraporn Ruamphongphatthana noted that the key result of the summit was the expression of interest in BRICS by a larger number of countries and the establishment of economic interaction independent of the West, including through the use of national currencies in foreign trade payments.

“In addition, the BRICS countries have reaffirmed their commitment to building a multipolar world order. In the future, we can expect significant changes in global geopolitics, driven by several key trends,” she said. “We are already seeing China, India, Russia and other countries taking a more active role in solving global problems,” she continued.

The rise of BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other organizations, as well as the position of countries in the Global South, shows that the one-sided, Western-dominated system is weakening, argues Ruamphongphatthana. “These countries will strive for a more equitable distribution of power and resources, which will lead to changes in global institutions and the system of international relations,” she concluded.

On October 22-24, the 16th BRICS summit was held in Kazan – a key event of the Russian chairmanship in the association. On the second day of the summit, participants adopted the Kazan Declaration. Among other key issues, the document highlights the development of the group and its position on global issues and crisis resolution, including in Ukraine and the Middle East.

The BRICS group was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China, and South Africa joined in 2011. On January 1, 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates became full members. . The Kazan summit was the first at which new members of the association were present as full members.
