Arsenal v Liverpool: Premier League title rivals meet in decider on Sunday

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha, with key players injured and Liverpool in good form, believes Arsenal will go into this game as underdogs but believes the position could suit them.

“Should Mikel Arteta be worried? I don’t think so,” he said on the Planet Premier League podcast.

“I think he understands the importance of the start of the season, but he understands more the importance of how they finish it.

“It will be a big disappointment after losing to Bournemouth, but really good teams, players and managers – I always like them after defeats.”

“The fact that they have a test against Liverpool and, oddly enough, at home they might feel a bit of an underdog – I think that fits with where they want to be at the moment.

“The crowd will be ready for it, the players will be too, and if they manage to win, it will be that boost that maybe they didn’t think they would need at the moment, but that boost that will come and the belief will be there at 100 %”.

Liverpool have lost only once this season – a 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest – and have won all their other matches.

Former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter believes the stability Arne Slote provides is key to their excellent form.

“What he did was make things very stable at Liverpool,” Potter said.

“The style of play has gradually changed – they are now increasing the tempo and pressing more patiently. It will be interesting to see how they maintain this.”

As for Sunday’s game, Potter added: “I think it’s going to be a draw.”
