Benjamin Netanyahu may fire Yoav Gallant after Iran strikes – report – Israel News

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu He has reportedly informed his ultra-Orthodox coalition partners that Defense Minister Yoav Gallant could face sacking following the expected strikes on Iran, Kan News reported on Sunday.

Faced with delays in drafting the bill, ultra-Orthodox Knesset members signaled a potential collapse of the coalition by refusing to participate in today’s meeting of the ministerial committee on legislation.

Netanyahu and his advisers urged coalition members to refrain from any internal disputes until security tensions with Iran subsided, assuring them that he was “ready to fire minister of defense whenever possible.”

Previous media reports indicated that Netanyahu was considering firing Gallant, with talks reportedly underway with National Unity Party leader Gideon. Saar as a possible successor.

Warming up an idea

While the Prime Minister’s Office rejected allegations of Sa’ar’s appointment, it declined to comment on reports that Netanyahu intends to remove Gallant. Ultra-Orthodox parties have shown openness to the potential inclusion of Saar in the government, seeing it as a positive step, the report said.

Senior party officials said they were willing to “give up ministerial roles if it meant expanding the government” at Saarland’s expense, suggesting they would “find cooperation with Saarland more constructive” in building consensus on the bill, the report said.
