South Bend community members got the chance to vote in their first federal election

SOUTH BEND, Indiana – Ten members of the South Bend community had the opportunity to vote in a federal election for the first time today.

They were joined by volunteers from One More Citizen INC, an organization that helps legal immigrants navigate the difficult path to U.S. citizenship.

It was an emotional moment for many as they finally got the chance to vote for president.

“It took me a while because I wasn’t ready, and my husband pushed me to the point that it was time for me to continue, you know, making the decision to become a US citizen. So, it’s only because my husband insisted. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have done it for a long time,” said first-time voter Nora Castillo.

If today 10 nationalized citizens got the chance to vote for the first time, then last week 20 voters who took part in the vote for the first time got their chance.
