One person killed after truck rams bus stop near Tel Aviv – Iranian leader’s response to Israeli strikes | World news

At least one person was killed and dozens were injured after a truck crashed into a bus stop near Tel Aviv, emergency services said.

The incident, which injured more than 30 people, took place IranRussian leaders expressed condolences to the families of the four people killed Israel strikes military targets in Iran.

“Iran’s enemies should know that these brave people fearlessly defend their land and will respond to any stupidity with tact and intelligence,” President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on X.

Israeli strikes on the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahiya killed at least 22 people on Saturday night, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.

More than 30 people were injured after a truck rammed into a bus stop.

Israel Magen David Adom (MDA) rescue service said the truck incident occurred when a bus dropped off passengers near the Glilot military base in Ramat Hasharon, near Tel Aviv, on Sunday morning. More than 30 people were injured.

An Israeli police spokesman said preliminary investigations showed that the truck collided with the passengers as well as the bus.

United Hatzalah, a volunteer emergency service, said the incident involved a “large number of pedestrians” and that people remained trapped under the truck 30 minutes after the incident.

Civilians at the scene “shot the truck driver and neutralized him,” Israeli police said.

Asi Aharoni, an Israeli police spokeswoman, later added: “We are treating this as a terrorist incident. The identity of the terrorist is still unknown; apparently, he is an Israeli Arab.

“We are currently working with the Shin Bet (Israeli security agency) to establish the identity and gain absolute certainty.”

Hamas and the small Islamic Jihad militant group praised the attack but did not say they were behind it.

An MDA spokesman later said the incident left six people in serious condition.

It comes after at least 22 people were killed in Israeli strikes on the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahiya on Saturday night, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

Many of those killed were women and children, officials said.

In addition, several people were also killed following an Israeli airstrike on a school housing displaced people in Gaza City, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.

The Israeli military said it struck a Hamas command center.

Earlier on Saturday Israel attacked military targets in Irankilling four people and striking bases in the provinces of Ilam, Khuzestan and Tehran.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei addressed the attacks, saying they “should neither be downplayed nor exaggerated.”

According to Iranian state media, he said: “Whatever is in the interests of this nation and country must be carried out.”
