Samuel Dewulf jailed for murder of Justin Green

A man who stabbed a father of three to death in his home has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison.

Justin Green was stabbed in the leg at an address in Braddock Court, Basingstoke, on April 29 and died at the scene.

Samuel Dewulf, 43, pleaded guilty to murder four days after his trial at Winchester Crown Court.

Hampshire police described the attack as a “senseless and despicable act of violence”.

Police said Dewulf deliberately inflicted the fatal stab wound on Mr Green’s left thigh, causing a 15cm deep wound that led to catastrophic blood loss.

He then tried to throw away the clothes he was wearing during the incident.

They were later found in woodland near Stratfield Road. Officers said DNA matching both men was found on the clothing.

Dewulf was later arrested at an address in Dollery Way.

He initially denied the charge and the trial began on Monday, but he changed his plea and was convicted earlier.

In a statement, Mr Green’s family said he had a “heart of gold”.

“He is still supposed to be here with his family, but because of someone’s cruel and callous behavior, he is not.

“His memories will always remain, but he must be here with us to do more. “This breaks our hearts more than we can explain.”

Det Insp Howard Broadribb said: “This was a senseless and despicable act of violence that resulted in the loss of the life of a much-loved father.

“It reflects the stark reality of the immeasurable pain and suffering caused by knives and guns.”

Two other men, aged 48 and 43, from Basingstoke, were also arrested on suspicion of murder but were released and no further action will be taken.
