Jenna Bush Hager jokes that she keeps running into her exes in Austin, Texas

Jenna Bush Hager gave Hoda Kotb a tour of her hometown of Austin, Texas, and the two apparently ran into several of Jenna’s former suitors.

TODAY program with hosts Hoda and Jenna went to Austin this week before the Hoda event, “Making Space: A Wellness Weekend with Hoda Kotb”“

Viewers saw the couple rush around Jenna’s old haunts during the Oct. 24 show. For the occasion, Jenna wore a cowboy hat. drove Hoda around Austin in a vintage red pickup truck.

“I’m going to show you what Texas is all about. Buckle up baby, you’re in for a wild ride,” Jenna said as they set off on their trip.

The couple stopped by Jenna’s alma mater, Austin High School, where Jenna was honored during a special ceremony. They also stopped at one of Jenna’s favorite Tex-Mex restaurants, Joann’s Fine Foods, owned by her high school friend Larry McGuire.

While Jenna and Hoda munched on chips and queso, Larry noticed that he was roommates with Jenna’s boyfriend during his freshman year at the University of Texas.

“We had such a good group of friends,” Jenna recalled.

Hoda was able to meet up with Jenna’s high school friends at Donn’s Depot, a local music club where the co-hosts hit the dance floor with other revelers.

Hoda and Jenna later shared highlights from their performance in front of a live audience in Austin. It was then that Hoda mentioned that she had met several young people from Jenna’s past.

“Being with Jenna in Austin is incredible,” Hoda said, adding, “Turn any corner and see, like, Jenna’s 7th grade date. Donna showed up at her graduation the other day.”

“It seems like I have a lot of exes still living in Texas,” Jenna joked, referring to George Strait’s 1987 country hit “All My Ex’s Live in Texas.”

Jenna fell in love with her most special “date,” husband Henry Hager. The couple, who married in 2008 and share children Mila, Poppy and Hal, met through mutual friends in 2004 when Henry worked for Jenna’s fatherformer US President George W. Bush.

Although Jenna knew in advance that Henry was the oneshe also expressed gratitude to him for taking her on “worst date” her life. As a result of the fiasco, Henry’s car ran out of gas and the two crashed into a Secret Service vehicle.

“My worst first date was with the Secret Service, let’s leave it at that,” Jenna told a surprised Hoda on the February 2021 episode of TODAY. “It was with Henry, and his car ran out of gas, he drove back and crashed into Secret Service.”

Jenna explained that she and Henry were driving up a hill in Arlington, Virginia, to get to the gas station on the corner.

“He started up the hill and then ughcollapse,” Jenna said, laughing as Hoda gasped.

– Were you scared or did you laugh? – Hoda asked.

“I laughed, but he was terrified,” Jenna recalled.
