VPI introduces new modular turntable model One

VPI has announced its latest player, the Model One, the first in its new Forever series. Building on nearly half a century of experience developing turntables, the company developed the Forever Series to showcase a new era of performance and modularity in its products that are designed to evolve with the user.

At the heart of Model One is a new motor drive and drive module. The module is mounted on a thick aluminum plate with resonance-absorbing damping, reducing vibration and enhancing sound. The belt-driven motor runs at 500 rpm and features a two-speed pulley for precise speed control. The inverted bearing minimizes the contact area between the disc and the bearing, reducing friction and increasing performance.

A distinctive feature of Model One is the new VPI S-Tonearm module, which provides increased accuracy and build quality. The 10″ S-shaped statically balanced tonearm features durable aluminum construction to eliminate tube resonances. Vertical tracking adjustment at the base of the arm allows precise height adjustment, while azimuth adjustment is available in the headband.

To further reduce friction, VPI used ABEC 5 bearings to eliminate vibration and ensure long tonearm life. One continuous high purity VPI copper wire runs from the headphone body to the RCA jack to ensure optimal signal.

Model One also introduces a new 3-point VPI floating suspension system for better isolation from external vibrations. This 3D isolation system stabilizes the turntable and minimizes motor noise while reducing both external and internal vibrations. The turntable retains the classic VPI look and features a black ash veneer and a hinged clear dust cover to protect the disc.

The modular design of the motor drive module and platter allows users to easily maintain, configure, package, replace or even upgrade the player. Future updates or new models will be able to integrate with the platform. A flexible upgrade path will allow the owner to upgrade Model One to Model Two or Model Three specifications as they become available.

Renaissance Audio distributes VPI products in the UK and Ireland. Managing director John Carroll said: “When creating the new Forever range, VPI asked its customers what they wanted in a premium turntable and how they wanted it to look and sound. This feedback, combined with the company’s audio manufacturing expertise, has resulted in the creation of three incredibly special players. I was thrilled when I first heard the Model One and immediately knew it would be extremely popular. Sound reproduction is detailed and accurate, showcasing all the best qualities of VPI. VPI says its performance is similar to the VPI Signature turntable, a model that costs nearly twice as much.

The Model One has a 10-year warranty.

Prices and availability: The VPI Model One turntable is available now, priced at $5,250/£4,990.
