Baltimore Ravens become outlet for Star Defender

Baltimore Ravens will almost certainly be on the market to add a few pieces between now and the NFL trade deadline, and until wide receiver is likely the team’s primary need, the Ravens could also use some help in the secondary.

Baltimore struggles in pass defense. well documentedand while injuries have certainly played a role in the problems, the Ravens could very well bring in another cornerback.

Here’s why Baltimore Beatdown’s Zach Kanter linked Baltimore to New Orleans Saints Security Tyrann Mathieu.

“There will likely be a sale in New Orleans this year, and it will be well over the limit by 2025,” Kanter wrote. “Mathieu has a cap this year and next year of $5.5 million this year and $11 million next year.”

Kanter also mentions that the Ravens have been interested in Mathieu in the past, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them pursue him again before November 5th.

In 2024, Mathieu has 28 tackles, a pair of interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three passes defensed.

The 32-year-old, who played collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He has changed a lot during his professional career, as he also played for Houston Texans And Kansas City Chiefs in between his stays with the Cardinals and Saints.

Mathieu was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and a three-time first-team All-Pro. Last season, he had 75 tackles, four picks, nine passes defensed and one defensive touchdown.

Another big advantage for Mathieu is his durability, as he has only missed two games since 2017. He also has championship experience, having won the Super Bowl in Kansas City in 2019.
