HCA General Surgeon Talks About Minimally Invasive Surgery

LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) – In TV20’s monthly “Healthcare” interview series, TV20’s Paige Beck speaks with doctors from HCA hospitals in North Central Florida.

Beck spoke with Dr. Yi Wang, a general surgeon at HCA Florida Lake City Hospital, about minimally invasive surgery.

“It involves small incisions and less risk than traditional open surgery,” he said.

This type of surgery can also reduce surgical scars and speed up patients’ recovery.

A new type of minimally invasive surgery performed with a robotic arm is showing promise at HCA Florida Hospital in Lake City, he said. Lake City Hospital has performed over 1,000 successful robotic minimally invasive surgeries.
