Armed bank robbery suspect caught naked. Lockout imposed on high school

Braintree police arrested a man in connection with an alleged armed bank robbery at the Eastern Bank, 703 Granite St., across from Braintree High School, Friday morning, according to a news release from Braintree police. Braintree Police Department.

An Eastern Bank branch employee reported that the bank was robbed at gunpoint around 10:43 a.m., police said in a news release. The employee provided a description of the man, whose name has not been released. Police said witnesses told officers a suspect matching the description ran across Granite Street and into the woods near 639 Granite Street.

Braintree High School, located opposite the bank, was located on lockout conditions as a precaution. The lockout has since been lifted.

Police said they set up a perimeter and used K9s and air resources to facilitate the search. Officers found and detained the man about 15 minutes later near the edge of the woods on West Street.

Although not mentioned in the police statement, “Sky5” WCVB was on the scene when the suspect was seen lying in the roadway naked and covered with a yellow sheet when he was taken into custody.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and the man will likely face charges.
