Shaq shocked Angel Reese by saying she should wear revealing clothes in games to make more money

As a fan of women’s basketball, Shaquille O’Neal has his own ideas on how to generate more interest in the WNBA. He shared one of these ideas with Chicago Sky’s rookie star. Angel Reeseand received a hostile response.

During an interview on Reese’s Unforgivably Angel podcast this week, O’Neal mentioned the outfit Reese wore on the court and called it a potential business strategy for Reese and others to sell more merchandise.

The outfit O’Neal is referring to was a gray long-sleeve top and short gray shorts that Reese wore while performing on Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘n Out, a sketch comedy and battle rap game show. improvisation.

“Imagine wearing the same shorts you wore on Wild ‘n Out. How many T-shirts are you going to sell?” O’Neal proposed to Reese during a podcast.

This proposal drew an impassioned reaction from Reese, who raised her voice and exclaimed that she was “not imagining anything!”

But O’Neill was persistent.

“The same shorts you wore in Wild ‘n Out.” …I’m just saying,” he repeated.

It didn’t take long for Reese to end the conversation and change the subject, shouting “OK, ok, ok, ok” to interrupt him and prevent him from continuing.

O’Neal’s comments came after he suggested another way to improve WNBA viewership is to lower the basket so more players can dunk.

“Bro, first of all, I love how you’re getting into fashion,” Shaq said. “Bro, a beautiful girl diving into the water? I watch this all day.”

THE IMPACT OF CAITLIN CLARK AND ANGEL REESE ON MEN’S BASKETBALL

Reese countered by saying she doesn’t believe women dipping their toes in water will make a difference and hates “when men say that.”

“I feel like it’s still not enough. It’s never good enough,” Reese said. “People always disrespect women, no matter what. They will always not give us the same value as men. So I don’t think so.”

Reese’s appearance in “Wild ‘n Out” received mixed reviews from fans.

Hip-hop artist and media mogul Joe Budden confronted Reese for appearing and causing controversy outside of court during an episode of “The Joe Budden Podcast.”

“I saw Angel Reese go crazy. I don’t know if I saw her in ‘Wild ‘n Out,'” Budden said. “Angel Reese won’t sit his damn girl down for a second… She won’t go anywhere to sit down for a second. There is value in this.

“It will sound like I’m telling women what to do. But that’s not true.”

Budden also compared Reese’s off-court behavior to her longtime rival and rookie star Kaitlyn Clarke.

“Whoever (Reese) gets, he tells her to show up everywhere. This is not what people are saying to Caitlin Clark, not to make it racial. … We’re just dealing with some star rookie right now,” he said.

Reese’s willingness to put herself out there despite fear of public backlash dates back to her performance in the 2023 NCAA women’s basketball championship game, when her LSU Tigers beat Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes for the title that year.

At the end of the game, Reese mocked Clark by pointing her finger to remind her who would receive the championship ring. The moment went viral and sparked a heated debate between Reese fans and Clark fans that grew even more heated as they progressed through their first WNBA season.

Reese launched her own podcast before she even completed her rookie season and continued to release episodes every week even after her WNBA season ended early due to a wrist injury in early September.

The podcast has sparked controversy on multiple occasions, including the first episode when she confronted rival player Caitlin Clarke’s fans, claiming they had made death threats against her and had also taken explicit images of her using AI and sent them to her family.

In her latest episode, Reese interviewed the ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce about their past relationship. The interview attracted barrage of criticismespecially from fans of Kelsey’s new girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

However, Reese’s presence and personality have brought more attention and fans to women’s basketball, even if she hasn’t yet changed her wardrobe on the court. Although Clark is considered primarily responsible for the recent explosion in popularity of women’s basketball at the collegiate and professional levels, the Reese-Clark rivalry added another dimension and attracted fans.

Reese has more social media followers than Clark, with 1.4 million more followers on Instagram, 170,700 more followers on X, and a staggering 4.11 million more on TikTok. Reese’s desire to express himself off the court may be a big reason. Clark was more reserved as a professional.
