Shenandoah County Triad Committee Hosts Public Health Fair in Woodstock

WOODSTOCK, Va. (WHSV) – Community members gathered at Peter Muhlenberg High School as the Shenandoah County Triad Committee and the Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce held their first community health fair with approximately 72 vendors in attendance.

Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office Help Desk Capt. Whitney Mauck said the event helped spread awareness about scams and scams targeting seniors.

“If they get a text message from the postal service that your package is delayed and you don’t receive it, it’s likely a scam,” Mauck said. “Their banks approach them and ask for their personal information or account information – that will never happen – we just like to keep them informed about things like that.”

To keep the event open to everyone in the community, Mauck said they came up with other ways to make the event fun and encourage families with children to participate.

“We wanted to implement (ways) this event could be family-friendly, so we added a fun run for the kids. There is a trampoline; we wanted to make sure the whole family could attend,” Mauck said.

Mauk said they plan to make the event an annual tradition and make it more inclusive for the entire community in the future.
