While the 37-year-old’s performance was met with laughter, the B-girl also faced major backlash. There was even Change.org petition criticizing RaygunAustralian Olympic Committee and Australian Chief of Mission Anna Meareswho demanded an apology and investigation selection process for the Australian breaking team.

AOC and Raygun itself strongly criticized the allegations made during the online campaign.

After Noise at the Olympic GamesThe Macquarie University professor has spoken about her time in Paris in 2024, describing her “whole world changed” following her newfound fame.

“My personality has changed. My relationships have changed, for better or worse. Unfortunately, these are the moments when you find out who your real friends are,” she said. Star magazine before revealing that she is focused on her health and her family, which has also been affected by the hype surrounding the Olympics.

Rachel “Reagan” Gunn says she got the most hate because of her age and gender

Reflecting on all the online hate she received after performing a series of jumps, flips and kangaroo turns at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gunn noted that the most hateful comments were related to her age.

“Our culture is very obsessed with age,” she told the publication.

“I think that was a real stumbling block for a lot of people: I basically didn’t know my place and what I should be doing with my time at that age; (in their opinion) this is certainly not participation in this environment, although I was not the eldest there.

“Several people told me on Facebook and Instagram what I should do… that I should pick up the kids from school.”

The viral B-Girl also believes that if she were a man, she would have been given the “larrikin title” and that more people would have “rallied” behind her after her performance.

“I saw a great meme like, ‘The world is hard on stupid women,’ with a photo of me,” she added.

“Women are not allowed to be stupid.

“But I think if I had been a man I would have been given the title of Larrikin very quickly and people would have rallied around me much more.”

Overall, the 2024 Paris Olympics, as well as online comments, left Raygun “tired” and the professor admitted it had “definitely taken its toll.”

“There was so much hatred and emotion that I had to wait until everyone calmed down a little,” she said.

Despite this, Raygun had some harsh words for those who tried to come to her post-Olympics, saying the haters “didn’t break (her).”

“I think the haters want me locked in a room, ashamed and quiet. Every time I leave the house, go out to dinner, go to the store or go to a fashion shoot, I look up and say, “You’re not successful.” I still stand by what I did. It’s okay to be different. It’s okay to be yourself. You don’t have the strength you think you have,” she shared.

Without revealing too much, Raygun shared that she’s working on several projects that “focus on self-expression and joy” on a low-key level.

If these workshops include doing the sprinkler and kangaroo jump with this badge, I’m first in line!
