120 Michigan National Guard troops deployed to southern border

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer approved the deployment of about 120 members of the Michigan Army National Guard to assist U.S. Customs and Border Patrol on the U.S.-Mexico border. This is the Michigan National Guard’s fifth deployment to the southwest border since 2020.

Members of the 1463rd Transportation Company will “provide support to CBP border security operations” and are expected to remain in the southwest portion of the border for up to a year.

“The Michigan National Guard is known throughout the country for its professionalism, and they have stepped up to protect and serve their fellow Americans when called upon by Democratic and Republican presidents,” Whitmer said Friday. “Now about 120 soldiers are preparing for battle again. answer the call of duty on our southern border, adding to the aggressive efforts that have brought border crossings to a four-year low.”
