Terrell Owens returns to UTC, causing excitement and winning homecoming.

Terrell Owens was in town watching the Mocs play.

The Mocs lost their first 3 but won their last 5.

Saturday was the UTC Mocs homecoming game and TO was on campus all weekend delighting the fans.

Terrell Owens is a six-time NFL Pro Bowl player and a former UTC athlete.

I just love coming back and giving back and being here. “This is where it all started for me,” Owens said.

During his time at UTC, Owens made his mark on both football and basketball.

He was inducted into the 2020 Southern Conference Hall of Fame.

I didn’t necessarily go to a Power Five school. I came here to UT Chattanooga. I made it to the professional ranks. Like I said, if you’re lucky enough to go to an A school, that’s great, but not everyone can do it. What’s the next best option? UTC is right here,” Owens said.

Owens teamed up with UTC Access and Engagement to give away 500 free tickets to Hamilton County students, teachers and families.

By game time, despite some light rain, the stands were filled to cheer on the Moks.

TO is already looking forward to returning next year.

I have been to different colleges and universities. I saw an outpouring of support. I saw the stadium field with fans. That’s not the issue here. I want it to happen here and this is a start. Now you hear it here. Hopefully we’ll see this next year. “I don’t want to see an empty seat next year, at least not close to it,” Owens said.

The Mocs continued their winning streak by defeating VMI 31-10.

UTC plays Western Carolina next Saturday.
