New Delhi: prime minister Narendra Modi on Sunday considered the issue “digital arrest“in episode 115”Mann Ki Baat‘, calling it a fraudulent activity. He urged people to remain vigilant and follow safety measures.

The Prime Minister stressed that those involved in the crime are enemies of society. “There is no such system in the law as digital arrest, this is simply fraud, deception, lies, a gang of criminals, and those who do this are enemies of society,” the Prime Minister warned.

Speaking about the growing number of cases and concerns over tech crimes, Prime Minister Modi told the audience that various investigative agencies are collaborating with state governments to combat these fraudulent schemes. To improve coordination between these agencies, a National Cyber Coordination Center has been established, he said.

“This initiative aims to strengthen efforts against cybercrime and protect citizens from such fraud, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to public safety in the digital sphere,” the Prime Minister said.

“Beware of digital arrest scams… No investigative agency will ever contact you over phone or video for investigation… Digital arrest phone scammers sometimes impersonate police, CBI and narcotics department; and sometimes RBI…using such different labels they talk like fake officers with great confidence. Many listeners of #MannKiBaat wanted us to discuss this. Let me tell you how these gangs of scammers work. What kind of dangerous game is this? It is very important for you to understand this, and it is no less important for others to understand this,” the Prime Minister said.

During a radio address, Prime Minister Modi showed the video to make people understand the seriousness of the crime. Explaining the modus operandi to the audience, Prime Minister Modi said, “The first step… They collect all your personal information… “You went to Goa last month, didn’t you? Your daughter is studying in Delhi, right? They collect so much information about you that you will be surprised.”

“The second move is to create an atmosphere of fear… The uniforms, the environment of the government office, the legal departments… they will scare you so much on the phone… In the midst of a conversation, you will not even be able to think. And then their third move begins – time pressure. »

You must decide now, otherwise you will be arrested. These people put such psychological pressure on the victim that it becomes scary. People of all classes and age groups are victims of digital arrest.

People have lost millions of rupees earned through their hard work due to pure fear. Whenever you receive a call like this, don’t be alarmed. You must know that no investigative agency ever requests such a thing through a phone call or video call,” the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Modi has listed three steps towards digital security. These three steps are: “Stop, think, act.” As soon as you get a call, stop… don’t panic, stay calm, don’t make hasty moves, don’t reveal your personal information to anyone; If possible, take a screenshot and write it down.

After this comes the second step. The first step was to “stop” and the second step was to “think.”

No government agency threatens you like this over the phone, asks or demands money for such a video call. If you feel fear, then know that something is wrong.

First step, second step and now I explain the third step. In the first step I said, “Stop”…in the second step I said, “Think,” and the third step tells you, “Act.”

He also mentioned the National Cyber Helpline 1930 to report the matter on cybercrime.gov.in or inform the family and police and save the evidence.

“Stop, then think, then act – these three steps will protect your digital security,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said agencies have blocked thousands of such fraudulent video call IDs. Thousands of SIM cards, mobile phones and bank accounts were also blocked.

“Agencies are doing their job, but to protect against fraud in the name of digital arrest, it is very important that everyone is aware, every citizen is aware. Those who have fallen victim to this type of cyber scam should report it to as many people as possible. You can use #SafeDigitalIndia to create awareness,” the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Modi also urged schools and colleges to involve students in the campaign against cyber fraud. “We can only fight this problem through the collective efforts of society,” he said.
