Massachusetts Lottery Winner: Man Shares  Million Prize With His Mom

A Massachusetts man has won a $1 million lottery prize and plans to share the money with his mother.

Timothy Mortell of Chicopee won $1 million in the new $2,500,000 Merry & Bright scratch game. Since its release on October 15, the game has claimed two $1 million prizes. As of October 28, four more $1 million prizes and all three $2.5 million top prizes remained.

Mortell chose the cash option and received a lump sum payment of $650,000 before taxes. He told the lottery operator that he wanted to invest his winnings and share them with his mother.

The Chicopee man bought his winning ticket at Yazzy’s Market, located at 810 Meadow St. in his hometown. For selling a winning ticket, the store will receive a $10,000 bonus.

The $2,500,000 Merry & Bright Scratch Ticket is one of six holiday-themed games that were released on October 15th. Another $1 million prize has also been claimed for the $1,000,000 Merry & Bright game since its release, as well as a $50,000 prize. the main prize in the game “Naughty or Nice Cashword”.

Non-winning holiday tickets can be used in Second Chance drawings to win prizes ranging from $100 to $10,000.
