Wrexham ‘in a good place’ despite Charlton disappointment – Dobson

George Dobson says Wrexham are in a “really good position” despite the disappointment of Saturday’s draw with Charlton Athletic.

Wrexham cruised to victory at the Valley until a controversial penalty snatched the Addicks a point seven minutes into stoppage time.

Former Charlton player Dobson said the decision to penalize Max Cleworth for handball was wrong but insists Wrexham should not be upset.

“We’ll lick our wounds because it was such a good performance,” he said.

“We were fully worthy of winning so it’s obviously very disappointing but we just have to stay positive because we played really well.

“We’re still in very good form going into the FA Cup and then we’ll get back into league play.”

Wrexham head into the Harrogate Cup next Sunday having lost just one of their last seven League One games.

Phil Parkinson’s side are third in the table, one point behind second-place Wycombe Wanderers and four behind leaders Birmingham City.

They return to league action with a home game against Mansfield Town on 9 November.

“I thought we played very well (at Charlton) but the last 30 seconds is a big learning curve for us,” Dobson added.

“You come out of the house and it’s a big crowd, it’s a tough game, but we played really well. So it’s a real kick in the teeth, but there’s so much positivity in it.
