Taylor pleaded guilty to stalking and received 15 years in prison

A Taylor A man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to stalking and having a previous conviction for stalking.

As part of the suit, Harley William Hovey, 30, also waived his right to appeal his case.

The Williamson County District Attorney’s Office says Hovey agreed to plead guilty just before jury selection in his case was set to begin.

In 2021, Hovey was found guilty of stalking a friend and roommate. Round Rock gym owner and sentenced to two years in prison. Hovey also committed a series of “disturbing acts” against the gym owner, including placing a rabbit’s head on his property, breaking a window in their office and smearing human feces on their car, the DA’s office said.

That 2021 case prompted a protective order barring Hovey from communicating with the gym owner at all or visiting his offices, among other restrictions.

But in February, prosecutors said he violated that order by sending a threatening message to the gym owner’s girlfriend through a fake Facebook account. Law enforcement investigated the post and linked the account to Hovey.

Later that month, Hovey was caught on surveillance video early in the morning at the gym owner’s office, wearing a ski mask and gloves to conceal his identity, another violation of the protective order.
