CHP: Driver killed in crash on Highway 12; authorities suspect drunk driving

A driver was killed early Sunday after his vehicle went off Highway 12 about 20 miles from the Napa County line and overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol.

In a Sunday morning post on the California Highway Patrol Solano County Facebook page, authorities said they suspect the driver was intoxicated and may have been driving fast when a vehicle heading east toward Interstate 80 left the road.

CHP officers were dispatched to the crash scene around 3:20 a.m.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, information about which was not specified.

Photos released by the CHP show the single-vehicle crash occurred in or near the unincorporated community of Cordelia in Solano County.

The driver’s identity will be released by the appropriate county sheriff’s office after notification of family, officials said.
