The financial sector has lost 30,000 workers since November last year ahead of results from Westpac, ANZ and NAB.

Lisa Neatherway was one of nearly 30,000 people to lose their jobs in finance earlier this year. Living south of Melbourne, the financial crime specialist found herself redundant as her employer, Commonwealth Bank, moved her job to Sydney. She was not ready for such a step, since it would require the destruction of her life and family.

It has been a stressful time for the 50-year-old, who has had to consider leaving the industry she has worked in for two decades to support her husband, son and his partner – all of whom live under the same roof. Ms Netherway said “the writing was on the wall” amid a major bank restructuring.
