‘Hungry and dehydrated’ gray seal pup rescued in Jersey

BDMLR said: “Grey seals do not seek human interaction, but this pup knew, despite the small crowd of people on the beach, that it needed to get out and rest.

“He dragged himself onto the beach while his searchers retreated, took control of the dogs and immediately called us. Then he fell into a deep sleep.”

There is no kennel on the island and the Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is closed for renovations, so the BDMLR team are trying to find him a new home.

“All offers of help and websites have been greatly appreciated. We did have a plan and through no fault of our own we are disappointed to report that it failed,” BDMLR said.

It added that Rocky was “doing great on the mackerel soup every day.”
