Nottingham Forest and Chelsea fined for hand-to-hand fighting in Premier League match

Nottingham Forest and Chelsea were fined after players clashed during a Premier League meeting on October 6.

The clubs were charged after it was alleged they failed to ensure their players “did not behave in an inappropriate and/or provocative manner in the 88th minute” of the game.

Both clubs admitted the charge, with an FA spokesman confirming that Forest and Chelsea were fined £125,000 and £40,000 respectively for the incident.

In the closing stages of their 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, a melee broke out after Forest defender Neco Williams pushed Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, knocking down Blues boss Enzo Maresca.

The brawl involved almost all 22 players, as well as substitute players and staff, resulting in Cucurella receiving his fifth yellow card of the season, with Williams and Levi Colville also receiving yellow cards.
