“I’m running because I believe parents need a strong voice and representation in the school.
board. I am proud that both of my children are SPS students,” Hough said. “As a board member, I will work to ensure that our educators are fully supported and equipped with the resources needed to provide a high-quality education that prepares students for lifelong success. Every parent wants that for their child, and I will be the voice for families in Springfield County.”

SPS Board candidates will receive packets next week; who we know is present or absent at the moment

Hough is currently a member of Care to Learn and the City Utilities Advisory Council. She is also the former chair of the Springfield Chamber Education Task Force, a former member of the Springfield Downtown Association, and the founder of the Valley Springs School Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides scholarships and supports a school in her hometown of Valley Springs, Arkansas.

“We are fortunate to have quality public schools in our area. We need leaders for
a school board that protects and supports our educators so they can focus on educating our children,” Hough said. “I respect the work of the board and believe I have a valuable contribution to make as a parent of SPS children and an active member of the community. I look forward to earning the support of our community,” Hough shared.

Hough will begin sending out petitions Nov. 1 to get on the ballot in the April 2025 election. She joins Gail Smart as one of the first candidates to announce his election campaign for the Union of Right Forces Council.
