Video shows former UW football players attacking cyclist during road rage incident

SEATTLE — Newly released video shows two former UW football players attacking a cyclist earlier this year.

Diesel Gordon and Tylin “Tybo” Rogers were charged. March attack and no longer on the team.

Rogers also faced rape allegations and a separate felony case is still pending in court.

Gordon pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to three days in jail, a small fine and 24 hours of community service.

Both criminal cases of rape and assault against Rogers are still ongoing.

Newly released video shows former UW football players attacking a cyclist in a stairwell in an apparent road rage incident following an earlier roadside dispute.

In the video, both players spat on the victim multiple times, pushed her to the ground and kicked her property.

The victim said he headed home after learning his roommate had died during the attack. Nearly a month later, both Rogers and Gordon were arrested for assault.

All of this happened while Rogers was also under investigation for two alleged rapes that occurred earlier in the same fall 2023 school year.

According to the police report in the rape case, Rogers assaulted both victims, brutally strangling and striking one victim. The report also states that one of the alleged victims dropped out of school, lost her job and attempted suicide.

Rogers was briefly suspended from the team and then reinstated while rape allegations were investigated in November 2023, but was ultimately left the team by May and still fighting rape and assault charges in court.

Rogers is due back in court Tuesday afternoon for a preliminary hearing on the rape charge. A trial date is tentatively set for December.
