(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The city of Colorado Springs is launching a new text messaging service to help neighbors stay in touch with local government and is encouraging people to register for a chance to win big prizes.

new text messaging service provides weekly updates from the city and monthly updates from parks, recreation and cultural services. It’s an easy way to stay informed about what’s happening in Colorado Springs.

“This is a brand new text messaging service that the City of Colorado Springs is offering to residents,” said Joe Hollman, communications and marketing specialist for the City of Colorado Springs. “It’s a way for people to stay informed and aware of what the city is doing, what we’re doing, important news about road construction, events, networking opportunities and things like that.”

To celebrate, the City is offering one great prize package for community members who sign up for City Alerts.

The grand prize is approximately $1,700 and includes Colorado Springs experiences including:

  • Four packages of tickets to visit Pikes Peak – America’s Mountains.

  • Four packs of tickets to the US Olympic and Paralympic Museum.

  • Two tickets to the College Tiger Hockey game against UNLV on December 29th.

  • Four tickets to the Air Force Football game against Oregon State on November 16th.

  • Four tickets to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks’ first home game in 2025.

  • 18 hole quadruple package at Patty Jewett Golf Course.

  • 18 hole quadruple package at Valley Hi Golf Course.

  • Four packages of tickets to the Sertich Ice Center, including skate rental.

  • Hybl Center Performance Package – Unlimited access to extensive adult classes, gait analysis and InBody body composition measurements.

You can enter to win a random drawing by subscribing to the Colorado Springs Weekly city newsletter and new text message service by Friday, November 1st. Participants must reside in Colorado Springs and be at least 18 years of age.

“We constantly hear from residents that they want to know how they can stay informed, and text messaging is one of the easiest ways to get short, quick updates that are important to residents,” Hollmann said. “By simply registering, residents receive a truly amazing prize package, including tickets for themselves, their friends or family.”
