After NCIS’s “Ducky Tribute” episode, Season 22 revealed the wonderful way David McCallum’s character will continue to be respected

September 25, 2023 David McCallum has died at the age of 90.. Although there was a time when the actor was best known for his role as Ilya Kuryakin in The Man from U.N.C.L.E.over the past two decades, he has gained another significant audience thanks to his role as Donald “Ducky” Mallard on NCIS. Earlier this year, a season 21 episode “Stories We Leave Behind” paid tribute both to the real person and to the character, and it even squeezed in cameo appearance by Tony DiNozzo Michael Weatherly. But now NCIS made sure Ducky’s memory is kept alive in another way as the newest episode of the CBS show premieres on TV schedule for 2024 bequeathed a new honor to the deceased character.

“The Trouble with Hal” follows the team investigating the murder of an ex-con named Felix Pitts, who rented a house rental app to take up residence at Bryce Prescott’s residence and deployed Navy SEALs who had no idea about his home. was placed under the tent (in this case it was actually the butler who did it). Long story short, Felix was hunting for what he thought could be a priceless treasure buried by Bryce’s eccentric grandfather either at this site or one of the others, and he was killed by a courier who got wind of what Felix was doing and became greedy. This incident was a fun way to highlight Nick Torres and Jessica Knight’s fear of ghosts, as they feared another house called Prescott’s Folly was haunted, and the collection of stuffed animals and creepy dolls didn’t help.

During all this, the main characters tried to figure out what to do with office Ducky once held this position while working as NCIS historian. Torres had hoped to turn it into the building’s new gym (he had been working out more in preparation for giving dating another chance), and although Casie Hines initially advocated keeping the office in Ducky’s memory, she later revealed that she often went to the office to meditate and then decided start your own petition to turn it into an official meditation room. Alden Parker expressed interest in having the office become the new cafeteria, and Jimmy Palmer, who had worked with Dr. Mallard for many years, agreed with all of these ideas as long as Ducky’s file cabinets remained in place.

Ultimately, Principal Vance decided to give everyone what they wanted by creating the Dr. Donald “Duckling” Mallard Memorial Multi-Purpose Room. Basically, it looks like it will be a new meeting place when everyone isn’t busy in the bullpen, lab, or dissection room. Nick can lift weights, Casey can continue to meditate, Alden and the others can go there for lunch, and Ducky’s file cabinets are left behind so Jimmy can look through his mentor’s old notes. Although this office set has been around for many years NCISnow its importance in the series has risen as a memorial of sorts to one of the original series regulars.

The only person not present at the official opening of the Ducky was Timothy McGee, who was busy searching for Gabriel Laroche, the new Assistant Director of NCIS. the job McGee wanted to get at the start of Season 22. As Katrina Lowe told CinemaBlend, the guy has “really taken McGee’s Spidey senses away,” although there’s nothing concrete yet to indicate he’s the new big bad. I believe McGee will be able to find something eventually, but he needs to keep this task away from Ducky as it is a place of leisure and relaxation.

New episodes NCIS airs Mondays at 9:00 pm ET on CBS, with episodes available to stream afterwards via Paramount+ subscription.
