Results of Christie’s Collectibles auction in Hong Kong

Over the past two days, the city officially hosted the auction “Important Watches: Participation in Collecting, Part 2.” Christie’s Hong Kong, achieving a monumental sale of HK$191,847,860 (approx. US$24,688,872) with 270 lots sold—almost a 100% sales rate.

The top lot of the sale is exceptional. Patek Philippe Link. 1518, which sold well above its original estimate of HK$16 million (approx. US$2,059,358) – closing at HK$19,130,000 (US$2,472,390). The perpetual calendar chronograph is crafted from 18-karat rose gold and features a French calendar and moon phase display. This is the only known example with the inscription “FAB”. SWISS” signed.

Also significantly exceeding its original estimate was the 18k rose gold and diamond Ref. 5980 and ref. 5074 “Cathedral” minute repeater and perpetual calendar wristwatch from Patek Philippe, both sold for HK$6.3 million (US$814,221) respectively.

Elsewhere one-off Richard Mille The RM 018 tourbillon with lapis lazuli wheels surpassed its original estimate by nearly three times and closed at HK$11,991,000 (US$1,543,033). The sale also set several world records, including an ultra-rare platinum coin. FP Travel The Octa Chronograph costs HK$4,410,000 (US$567,490).

Among the lot was a specially selected selection called “Platinum Odyssey”, which featured 72 pieces featuring the titular precious metal. Noteworthy sales from this section are extremely rare. Grebel Forsey “Invention Piece 2” and Platinum Limited Edition. Cartier Tank à guichet, created especially for the sesquicentennial anniversary of the House. A Greubel Forsey watch sold for HK$3,276,000 (US$423,395) and a Cartier Tank à guichet sold for HK$1,386,000 (US$179,129), nearly seven times its pre-sale estimate.
